Day 1 October 19, 2013
Panama City was a big hit with Irene and I.
Absolutely breathtaking sight lines from North, South and West.
Our Hotel was 3 blocks from the water (Buena Vista) in the Financial District
Some of the best Restaurants in the City were all around us.
We chose Habbibi's which is famous for Panama cuisine and American Favorites.
Gotta say that the lemon garlic wings were as good as any, ever. I followed those up with a huge sea bass ceviche that tickled the taste buds!
Irene made it 4-4 with piles of Soft Shell and Stone Crab.
Took a taxi to Mi Ranchito on the Amador Parkway which links the City to 3 good size Islands about 5 miles offshore. The Parkway was built with the dredging for the Panama Canal which is right next door.
A nice Rum Coffee with Rum Cake was a perfect fit for one of the world's best views. Irene went with a cappuccino.
Hotel Terranova was nothing to write home about but it was clean, great bed, large room and was $74.00 compared to the $250 Waldorf Astoria a block away.
Bright, hot and sunny for both days.....really dig the city and the people in PC.
Day 2 October 20, 2013
More Sun and heat.
Bought some expensive Panamanian Coffee at the Super Mercado on the way to
Tocumen airport. Caught the 10 AM to Guayaquil, Ecuador.
We were treated to overcast sky's and 87 degrees upon our Noon arrival.
Found a solid driver and got to the Malecon (Boardwalk).
Stayed at the "Manso boutique Hotel":
The Hotel is kinda funky but a very cute funky. 2 flight walk-up to a small room with 3 beds (1 bunk) AC, private bath, strong WIFI.
It has 2 great 2 person balcony's right above the entrance to the Malecon.
with table & chairs for hangin out or grabbing a smoke.....price...$40.
We walked the Malecon and stopped off at Resaca 's seafood restaurant.
On the River, tremendous views of the water and city. Shrimp and Crab Ceviche for me, oysters Au Gratin and Creamy Garlic Crab for my sweet.
Food was OK but better grades from Irene than I.
Finished our Malecon excursion, decided against a party bus or boat and went back to funkyville. People everywhere have been terrific!
